Assassin’s Creed Shadows is an action role-playing game developed by Ubisoft Quebec, scheduled for release on February 14, 2025. It is the fourteenth major installment in the Assassin’s Creed series and takes place in 16th-century Japan, during the Sengoku period. The game follows the millennia-old conflict between the Assassin Brotherhood, who fight for freedom, and the Templar Order, who seek control. Players experience the story from the perspective of two protagonists: Naoe, a female shinobi, and Yasuke, an African samurai inspired by the real historical figure.
The gameplay introduces dynamic lighting, environmental interactions, and unique features like manipulating shadows and using a grappling hook for parkour. The open world changes with seasons, and missions offer non-linear approaches. Players can recruit a spy network for gathering intelligence and use historically accurate weapons like katanas, shuriken, and the kusarigama.
